Dear FPS Community,

The new year is usually a time for resolutions and hopes for a fresh start.  2022 has begun with a series of new challenges for all of us.  Especially at moments like this, it is important to step back and remind ourselves of the many good things that are happening throughout the district.

Take a few minutes to read about the students, staff, and other members of our FPS community who continue to find ways to bring light, hope and passion to us all.

Better times are coming.

Take care,
Mike

Holiday Concerts Return

Our Candlelight and Carrillon concerts are the highlight of the holiday season and this year we were especially delighted to be able to enjoy then in-person once again.

McKinley School outdoor Holiday Show

Every year, McKinley does a holiday show open to all grades. It’s really just all about having fun and sInging from the heart. Despite current conditions, we decided to just go ahead and sing outside. The result was magical! We traveled to the Watermark Retirement commminity to sing to them and then did a show right outside McKinley school under a mix of holiday and street lights. Our children are the hope that shines bright!

Riverfield and RLMS Chess Clubs named 2021 Scholastic Chess Clubs of the Year by the Connecticut State Chess Association (CSCA) .

North Stratfield School Community lends a helpful PAW to help others!

The third grade Brownie Troop at North Stratfield School ran a food/supply drive for the Connecticut Humane Society. The NSS community donated items ranging from blankets to animal toys and of course food. The North Stratfield School Community exceeded our expectations - we were able to load up an entire car full of supplies for the Humane Society! Go Tigers!

Zack Wagner promoted to Major, U.S. Army

Zack Wagner, Warde Class of 2005, and graduate of West Point, was promoted from Captain to Major in the U.S. Army.  Zack has served multiple tours in Iraq, and has most recently returned from being stationed in Germany for three years. He chose to have his promotion ceremony in the Warde wrestling gym, as he said that “…everything he needed to survive the army, he learned in that gym.” His father, Tim Wagner, was a teacher at the Walter Fitzgerald Campus. His sister Natalie Wagner Gallucci, is a special education teacher at Tomlinson Middle School. Zack’s friends, family, a few former teachers, and of course, his Warde wrestling coach, attended the ceremony to celebrate this incredible young man.
