Superintendent

Michael J. Testani is the superintendent of Fairfield Public Schools, a position he was appointed to effective November 1, 2022. Prior to joining Fairfield, Mr. Testani served as superintendent of the Bridgeport Public Schools. A career educator, Mr. Testani has over 27 years of experience having held a variety of roles including teacher, school counselor and administrator. 

As FPS superintendent, Mr. Testani is responsible for promoting the academic and social emotional growth of all students. He is committed to engaging the entire school community to build and grow parent and community partnerships. This goal requires development and alignment of strategic plans and budgets to support increased student academic performance.

Mr. Testani holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education / School Counseling from the University of Bridgeport. He also holds a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University and completed his Advanced Superintendent Certificate from Central Connecticut State University with a 4.0 GPA. Mr. Testani currently holds Connecticut State Education Department (CSED) Certifications in School Counseling (068), as well as in Administration and Supervision (092) and School District Superintendent Certification (093).

Mr. Testani has been a resident of Fairfield since 2015 and feels fortunate to live and work in a community he describes as deeply committed to public education.
