A Message From Superintendent Michael J. Testani – Community Conversation

Dear FPS Families & Staff,

This past week, a discriminatory incident occurred at Warde High School in the boys' bathroom. School personnel conducted a full investigation and the student involved was disciplined. Warde building leaders addressed students and staff via an all-school virtual assembly with a focus on respect, intent and impact. As we work to support and promote a positive and inclusive environment within our school communities, we ask families to continue these discussions at home.

As you sit down to have these important conversations with your children, here are some questions to assist you that have been provided by the Anti-Defamation League:

Could my words or actions be misunderstood or cause harm?

Could someone perceive my words or actions as insensitive or offensive?

Could my words or actions make this environment less welcoming to some people, even if they are not here now?

The district will begin strategically engaging partners to develop a comprehensive plan to support the important Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work in Fairfield. Please stay tuned for more information.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Testani

Superintendent of Schools
