Superintendent's Message May 24, 2021 High School Equity Event
May 24, 2021
Good afternoon,
Today, students at Ludlowe and Warde High Schools participated in events supporting equity, standing against hate, and advocating for change. The events were organized by Warde Voices for Equity and Ludlowe Youth for Equity, both student-led groups.
Our students gathered peacefully and were respectful in expressing themselves. It is so important that students have a voice in our community. It was moving to hear so many speak passionately about their experiences and hopes for change. While we still have much work to do as a district, it is encouraging to see our students organize, take action, and advocate for themselves and others, as responsible citizens. These young men and women are the future of Fairfield.
Our work ahead is to meet their calls for action with the substantive changes needed to make FPS a truly inclusive school system. We will share more details as we move forward.
We thank the Fairfield Police Department for working with us to help maintain a safe environment for our entire school community.
Take care,
Mike
