Superintendent's Message March 24, 2022

March 24, 2022

Good morning

I am resigning as Superintendent of Fairfield Public Schools.  My last date of employment will be June 30, 2022.  I have decided to semi-retire and have accepted the part-time Superintendency of Pomfret Community School in Pomfret, CT.  I will begin there July 1, 2022.

The past seven years in Fairfield have been the most challenging and rewarding of all of my 36 years in education.  Your commitment to students and to your colleagues is the greatest strength of this school system and it has been the honor of a lifetime to work with you.

At this time in my life, there are other interests I wish to pursue.  I also want to spend more time with my family (although whether they want this or not is still to be determined).

The Board of Education will begin the search process for a new Superintendent immediately.  They will work with families and staff to identify the needed skills and traits of the next Superintendent.

There are 100 days before the end of June and much work to be done.  I look forward to completing the budget process and finishing the next District Improvement Plan.  I believe FPS is well positioned for the challenges ahead.

Take care,

Mike
