Superintendent's Message December 8, 2021 FWMS Incident
FWMS Incident
December 8, 2021
Good afternoon,
Dear FPS Families and Staff,
Yesterday, we learned of a student making a threatening statement to others at Fairfield Woods Middle School. Our staff immediately took action and elevated the threat to building administrators, who notified the School Safety Team, Fairfield Police, and Central Office. We take all threats seriously and have protocols in place to address them.
As always, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. At no time were any students or staff directly at risk. A thorough investigation has been carried out and appropriate disciplinary action has been taken.
We understand this can be unsettling for students, staff and parents alike; and have supports in place. Please reach out to your grade-level counselor if you feel your child needs support around this event. Please understand that we are limited in terms of what we can share due to privacy and safety concerns. I ask that you please refrain from conjecture or discussing the incident on social media.
We continue to be vigilant about school security, and invite you to assist us. Parents, please speak with your children about their role in school safety. Let your child know that if he or she hears or learns of any suspicious or threatening behavior, he/she should report it to an adult. It will immediately be investigated, and, if appropriate, reported to law enforcement. Together, we can keep our students and school community safe.
Take care,
Mike
