Free Meals Extended Through 22-23 School Year

Fairfield Public Schools has extended free meals for all students to continue through the 2022-23 school year. À la carte items such as snacks are available for purchase.

During the pandemic, the National School Lunch Program, a federally assisted meal initiative, provided school districts with the funds to serve free meals to students under the age of 18. The grant was set to expire in January 2023, but FPS is now able to extend the meal service through the end of the school year using excess School Food Authority funds.

“We are pleased to continue to offer this opportunity to families to ensure that our students are receiving a nutritionally balanced free lunch that provides them with the energy they need to learn,” said FPS Superintendent Michael J. Testani.

For additional food assistance programs, families can call the USDA’s National Hunger Hotline at 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 211 for resources and information.
