FPS 2023-24 Winter Weather Memo

Dear Fairfield Families,
With winter weather just around the corner, we want to remind families about district procedures for school delays, early dismissals and cancellations. Predicting weather is always a challenge, but our top priority remains the safety of our students and staff.

A Winter Weather Message

Though we will do our best to inform families and staff of a cancellation, delay or early dismissal in advance, this isn’t always possible due to unforeseen circumstances or changes in weather predictions. In these cases, we rely on the most current information from local experts to help us make an informed decision. Please be aware, there may be instances where we utilize a delay that could result in a subsequent school cancellation. This allows us to better assess a potential weather situation as it unfolds.

Inclement weather decisions could result in the following:

  • Delay: The length of the delay is two hours. Lunch will still be served. All before school programs and activities are canceled. A delay may result in a school cancellation if conditions continue to worsen.
  • Closure: All schools are closed for the day. After-school activities and programs are canceled. High School Activities TBD depending on conditions.
  • Early Dismissal: Students are released according to the standard early dismissal time. Lunch will still be served. After-school programs and activities are canceled. High School Activities TBD depending on conditions.
  • After-school cancellation: All afterschool programs and activities are canceled. High School Activities TBD depending on conditions.

A friendly reminder to log in to Infinite Campus to confirm and/or update your primary email and primary cell phone information. Instructions can be found herePlease note, if your information is not updated in Infinite Campus, you will not receive important weather and emergency notifications from the district via ParentSquare.

Sincerely,
Michael J. Testani
Superintendent of Schools
