Fall 2024 NWEA Assessments

Beginning September 9, students in grades K-9 will be administered the Northwest Evaluation Association assessment (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) . The NWEA assessment has been linked to Connecticut Core Standards and was administered three times during the 2023-2024 school year. Students in K-3 will be administered the Acadience Reading assessment in lieu of NWEA.

NWEA measures student progress in reading, math, and language usage. Over time, a student’s progress and growth may be tracked across multiple years and against standards and normative data.

The NWEA is a computer adaptive assessment. If a student responds correctly or incorrectly to a question, the proceeding question will adjust to be harder or easier, respectively. This allows a final score to be highly accurate and personalized to the individual student. Schools and teachers receive score reports which allow them to make instructional decisions based on these individual results.

Results will also be shared with parents in the Infinite Campus backpack after the assessment window is completed in October. For additional assessment information, including calendars, FAQs, and guides, please visit the FPS assessment page on the website.
