Cohort changes September 10, 2020

Dear FPS Families,

On September 2, 2020, we put a hold on any requests to change a student's learning model. We had hoped to maintain a 10-day change window throughout the year, however, at this time, we are suspending all change requests for grades K- 8 until further notice.

While we recognize that this may create difficulties for individual families, allowing changes at this time would disrupt large numbers of students and staff.  We are close to class size maximums in many sections in both models.  Changes would require adding or breaking apart existing class sections; adding qualified staff that are just not available, and sustaining significant financial impacts.  Most important, such changes run counter to the student-teacher and student-student relationships we are working to build.  It is critical that we stabilize enrollment, transportation and staffing, and maintain safety and instructional continuity for all students.

Questions may be directed to Dr. James Zavodjancik for elementary (jzavodjancik@fairfieldschools.org), and Dr. Zakia Parrish for secondary (zparrish@fairfieldschools.org).

We appreciate your understanding as we work towards what is best for the entire FPS community.

Thank you,
