Important Budget Update: Board of Finance Meeting TONIGHT
Right now, there’s a $1.9 million cut to the Board of Education’s budget request, which puts Fairfield’s education at risk. Cuts will directly impact classrooms as non-essential spending has already been eliminated.
During this evening's Board of Finance meeting, the superintendent and Board of Education members will strongly advocate for the full budget request to be fulfilled by the Board of Finance.
How Can You Help?

SBA & NGSS Assessment Window To Begin In March
Fairfield Public Schools will join students across the United States in the Smarter Balanced (SBA) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Assessments this spring. Students in grades 3-8 will participate in the SBA in English language arts and mathematics. The State’s testing window will be open from March 24 through May 30 with Fairfield students beginning testing in April. Your school will communicate its specific testing schedule in the near future.
In addition to the SBA, students in grades 5, 8, and 11 will also participate in the NGSS during the same dates (Grade 11 NGSS opened on February 11 and goes through May 30). These assessments are untimed, adaptive, and computer administered. Students may spend up to five hours to complete both assessments over multiple days. Each session will vary in length based on the assessment and schedule, and students may complete each assessment at varying intervals and pace. Federal and state law requires participation in these assessments. Both assessments adhere to federal and state privacy laws, including but not limited to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Registration Office: New Address Reminder
A friendly reminder that the district requires families to notify the Registration Office at 203-255-8242 when there has been an address change.
You will need to provide your new address and documents to verify this information. The new address will then be updated in Infinite Campus by the Registrar, ensuring that your child has proper access to bus service if applicable, and any school mailings will be able to be sent to the proper address. Please note: addresses cannot be updated by parents/guardians in the parent portal. Visit our website for more information.
Supporting Our Kids: A Parent’s Guide to Mental Health
Fairfield’s Social Services, Youth Services Bureau, and CARES (our Prevention Council) are partnering to present Margaret Weeks Horton, LCSW, for this important program. Margaret will address the impact of mental health on children’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She will explore how issues like anxiety, depression, and ADHD can manifest through changes in behavior, emotions, and social interactions. Parents will gain valuable insights into these challenges and walk away with practical tools to support their children's mental well-being.
The program will take place Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Bigelow Center in Fairfield. All are welcome.
The FPS Technology Department is pleased to announce a new webpage which has been designed to help you navigate the challenges of managing your child's internet usage at home.
