Printing Instructions
What is a Desktop Printer?
A Desktop Printer is a smaller printing device typically placed on or near your desk. This includes both laser and inkjet printers. Multi-Function Devices (MFDs) and large format printers (such as poster printers) are not considered desktop printers.
What is a Multi-Function Device (MFD)?
An MFD is a larger printer/scanner/copier unit, typically RICOH or SAVIN brand. These enterprise-grade devices handle both small and large print jobs and support secure printing through PaperCut. They offer additional features like scanning, copying, and professional finishing options.
What Printer should I use?
You should default to using "Secure Print" and release your print jobs at an MFD.
What is Secure Print?
Users can send print jobs to a single queue from any device and release them at any nearby MFD by scanning their ID badge, ensuring they are present to collect the documents. This secure system prevents forgotten prints and protects confidential materials, allowing users to retrieve jobs even from a different location, like another school building.
