COVID-19: Information and Resources

Dear Members of the Fairfield Public Schools Community:

The Fairfield Public Schools will close beginning tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2020 and will remain closed until further notice.  The closure also applies to all athletic events and practices, club meetings and other student activities.   There are no currently identified COVID-19 cases in town, but public health authorities have advised us that community transmission of COVID-19 is now occurring in our area.  We are taking this measure as an additional precaution.

We continue to prepare for distance learning and expect to implement that as quickly as possible.  We are finalizing plans that will best support all of our learners and will send an updated district notification via Infinite Campus tomorrow, on Friday, March 13th

Until distance learning begins, we will treat any day school that is closed as a snow-day type event.  In other words, these days will need to be made up at the end of the year.  We are actively working to minimize those days.  We are submitting our waiver application with the state today.

Saturday’s SAT at Fairfield Ludlowe is postponed.  We will send more information to families as soon as it is available from College Board.

In all circumstances, our priority is the health of you and your families.  Please continue to take preventive measures and please look out for each other.

We look forward to seeing you, virtually or in person, as soon as possible.

Take care, Mike

Michael Cummings
Superintendent of Schools
Fairfield Public Schools
