The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium is committed to ensuring that all students leave high school prepared for postsecondary success in college and careers. In the 2014 – 2015 school year, the Smarter Balanced summative assessments aligned to Common Core State Standards in English language arts/literacy and mathematics will be administered to students. A balanced assessment system – which includes summative and interim assessments and formative assessment practices – provides tools to improve teaching and learning
