Why am I Doing This?

WHY IS THE RESEARCH PROCESS IMPORTANT?

As a high school student and life-long learner, you need research skills to discover new knowledge.  This investigative process is the basis for intellectual activity.  Techniques vary with the materials and the purpose of investigation, but the essential process is acquiring existing knowledge about a subject and then applying it to new circumstances.  Researched writing is any written product which results from investigation or research. The same process may also be used to produce a visual, oral, multimedia, or other non-print product.
